Management Case Study: Riverside Packers, Inc.

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM:
How to remedy the decreasing profit margin of the Riverside Packers, Inc.?

OBJECTIVE:
To determine a strategy to make the products of  Riverside Packers, Inc. more profitable.

 AREAS OF CONSIDERATION:
 Market Analysis, Cost,  Competition
ALTERNATIVE COURSES OF ACTION

1. To make a SWOT Analysis and do Extensive Advertising.

Advantage:
Economical for the company to venture into such and would answer the problem in the short run although the advertising part would really cost a bit.

 Disadvantage:
It does not address the problem in the long run but advertising would be good for the company.

2. To hire a researcher to study the trend in the market and the cause of the decreasing profit margin and do extensive advertising.

Advantages:
The company would be assured of the best result and it will help them obtain the information they needed to capture the bulk of the consumers in the market again.  The advertising would also uplift and gain more awareness to the consumers of the existence of the product

Disadvantage:
It would be pricey for the company but they have no option.

3. To make a SWOT Analysis, hire a researcher to study the trend in the market and the cause of the decreasing profit margin and do extensive advertising.

Advantages:
It will help them analyze the problem in the short and long run.  The SWOT Analysis, the research and the advertising would do well for the company specially their decreasing trend of profit margin.  It will help them make a strategic program or plan to gain more profit and would save them the effort of hiring a sales force because advertising would create more impact

RECOMMENDATION
I recommend for alternative course no. 3 because it is the best option for the company and known to render best result for any company and the earlier they do it, the better for them to save their company from the decreasing profit margin.
