Organizational Development Program for a Non-Profit Organization

Title of the Case:
OD Program for a Non-Profit Organization Whose Management Was Turned Over by a Foreigner to a Team of Filipino Managers
Problems:
  1. What practices in the case would be helpful to apply in your organization?
  2. How might you modify the practices in the case to better suit your organization?
  3. What did you learn overall from the case?

Answer:
  1. Most of the practices in the case were already implemented in our organization except for one like the need for inter-divisional cooperation.  Competition exists in our organization instead of working together to achieve the company’s goal.  Our organization reminded me of a political arena among nations where you only protect your own interest.

  1. As mentioned, the need for interdivisional cooperation is the best practice to be implemented in our organization.  Our office lacks teambuilding activities which could also be attributed to our insufficient fiscal year budget but even then, it should not encumber our office to go into such activities.  The best way that I can do is to suggest and make a proposal for the year-round activities.  My suggestion will contain the budget, the benefits of having it and the disadvantages of not having it.

  1. The important realizations I discovered from the case are the following:
    1. Political will to improve;
    2. Commitment from the top management and the willingness of the employee to accept the challenges.
